ok i've been doing some reading lately about elliott smith gear and recording stuff and recently i re-stumbled upon larry crane's flickr and decided to share some pics from it. larry crane and elliott smith started working together in 97 after a friend suggested they meet due to a common interest in needing a recording space. elliott and larry worked out a deal: elliott helped build the studio and larry provided a place to record and often helped, and so formed jackpot! recording in portland, or. in the end, elliott wasn't there for too long before moving to brooklyn, but they still managed to record a few legendary songs there ( miss misery, amity, and baby britain ). after elliott died, his parents ended up asking larry to be the archivist for elliott, and shortly after that larry began to put together new moon compiled mostly of unreleased/"unfinished" tracks recorded between 95-97.
